Given that the average household uses around 15kWh/day just to provide hot water, using Joule Solar Thermal can greatly reduce total household electricity usage. Due to the round shape, evacuated tubes passively track the sun through the day. By tracking the sun from early morning to late afternoon, the solar collectors provide more heat for longer each day, which means more hot water. The special selective coating (Al-N/Al) on the inner tubes provides a high conversion efficiency, which in turn means an excellent year round performance. Joule evacuated Tube Solar Systems can provides on average up to 70% of your hot water needs therefore

A BER is similar to the energy label for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and G the least efficient.

From the 1st of January 2009 a BER certificate is compulsory for all homes being sold or rented. If you are buying or renting a new house or apartment now, you are entitled to a BER

A seller must provide a BER to prospective buyers or tenants when a home is constructed, sold or rented under the following circumstances:

New homes where planning permission was applied for on or after the 1st of January 2007

All homes for sale or rent on or after the 1st of January 2009

All new homes (even when not for sale) must have a BER certificate before they are occupied.

A BER for a building will be valid for 10 years from the date of its being issued, unless there is a material change in the building in the meantime which could affect its energy performance – for example an extension to the building, a significant change to the building fabric or a change in the heating system or fuel used.

BER assessments are carried out by registered BER assessors who have trained under the National Framework of Qualifications and have registered with SEI.

Comfort isn’t the only reason to invest in a Joule underfloor heating system; however there are other good reasons to invest in a Joule underfloor heating system like cost savings and energy efficiency.

  • Modern underfloor heating systems are economical to run and are virtually maintenance free.
  • They provide the most comfortable all round warmth of any kind of heating system. They are efficient on fuel due to lower operating temperatures.
  • Running costs are subsequently reduced by around 20% plus.
  • People often discover that they are comfortable at temperatures lower than those provided by conventional systems, lower temperature settings mean lower electricity costs.
